CASKET GIRLS AND OTHER BEAUTIES OF THE BAYOU
or
"Claudia and the magic spoon"
A follow up of Modern Doll 2018 in New Orleans, Louisianna by Claudia Hillesheim
WHAT A CRAZY WEEK!
Each year Boneka goes to Modern Doll Collectors Convention and presents Boneka Effner Dolls for Modern Doll at a mealevent. This year the whole event was about the French Colonial Period of Northamerika and the history of Louisianna in the 18th century.
Louise, our French girl in a beautiful embroidered and lace trimmed dress, wanted to be the center piece. She "told" her story about living in the colonies in "La Louisianne"
Her friend Delia - a creole girl and daughter of the cook - was our souvenir doll and is dressed in a maids dress of the first half of the 18th century.
Delia's brohter Benjamin came as our companion doll and has a cool hairstyle: the typical tail in the back with a black bow. Too cute...
This year Boneka also presented a new special tan doll Little Sister: a 8" Kidz'n'Cats Mini doll exclusivly at Boneka. The tan Mini dolls have never been on the market and we are fortunate to get this dolls undressed and we can offer them dressed in our size 20 clothing. Little Sister Modern Doll Special Edition came in a dress like Delia.
Like every year: All our Boneka Dolls traveled cargo in a suitcase with all german papers needed for the custom. But OH NOOOOOO: Our dolls have been taken in bond by custom by an officer at Dallas airport. What now???
Well when everyting else fails: KEEP ON SMILING
We needed 4 days to get the suitcases cleared by a broker till we finally could pick up the dolls at the cargo center. My wonderful friend Alison was a tremendious help in the process and I made her "employee of the month". She did a great job. Thank you Ali for beeing solid as a rock.
But what about the Boneka Dinner event without dolls?
The show must go on and there is always a Plan B!
Luckily Little Sister traveled seperately and came over from the sales room to be our substitute center piece and she was cute as can be ;-)
And know what: there could not be happening much more because we were protected by my MAGIC SPOON and I performed magic with a slide show about history of Louisianna and the casket girls of New Orleans.
At least everybody had a fun time and who wouldn't get a big laugh by looking at Rosemarie's table cloth on my head :-D
We are looking forward to Modern Doll 2019 in San Antonio, Texas.
Hope to see you there....
LET'S DO THE MAGIC AGAIN
