Modern Doll San Antonio 2019

MY FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

Boneka at Modern Doll Collectors Convention in San Antonio, Texas – A follow up

Modern Doll is the 5th season of the year when I travel to USA to see my “family” at Modern Doll Collectors convention.
It feels like coming home to good old friends and family.

This year was very special because I came with my grown up daughter Sarah Maria who supported me in every way and she became a new “family-member” of Modern Doll.

We followed this year’s subject “Magical Memories” and THE very magical moment in my childhood was my first day of school.
I wanted to go to school so badly and – believe it or not – I wanted to have homework like my big sister. Reading and writing opened a whole new world to me and since today I am thankful that I could go to school because the world is teaching me so many wonderful things.

No wonder that our dolls had their first day of school at Modern Doll too.

Talking about turning centuries our centerpiece Maria had her first day of school back in 1918. My wonderful grandmother Maria with a beautiful red genuine mohair wig was dressed in historical clothing of the early 20th century with a dress, embroidered pinafore, a navy blue felt cape, laced bloomers, black stockings and black lace up boots. She carried her chalkboard to school.

Our souvenir doll Sarah Maria is a real Millenium kid. She was dressed in a modern denim dress with apple appliqué, red pantyhoses and blue T-Strap shoes. She came with her floral backpack with a cute little charm on it.

Marvin – our companion doll – was the heartthrob of all girls. He was Sarah Maria’s classmate and first crush and completed “our class”. He is dressed in denim cargo pants, a tartan shirt, corduroy vest and lace up shoes. His charm on his corduroy backpack is really cool. You can’t help falling in love with this cute little boy.

Brandnew this year was that Boneka came with all three different sculpts. Maria is a Tuesday’s Child while Sarah Maria was born on a Thursday and Marvin on a Monday.
How cool is that?
